Google Places Review Guidelines Promote and Allow Fake Reviews!

Google Places: I write this as a result of your refusal to remove to fake reviews from our account saying they are not outside your guidelines. Your review guidelines need more teeth!

This is just a "heads up" from Chef LeeZ who has over 325 real student reviews posted in under 3 years to Trip Advisor.

If you want the reviews posted to Google Places to have value to a prospective customer. The customer must have faith in the reviews being real, being from person(s) having used the business being reviewed.

Google Places current review guidelines are lax! You allow anyone to say anything without even having attended or used the business in any way and you allow them to be compensated for reviewing to boot.  As an example your review guidelines would allow Vegans, as an organization, to attack any meat outlets they desire. You also allow reviews from persons residing in the same city therefore employers can request all staff to post a review (2000 employees = 2000 reviews=meaningless results) and or  they can have staff and friends attack their competitors sites. Your current review guidelines promote the worst possible variety of SPAM (being lies and bullcrap). and yah they don't have to even leave a comment, simply post a 2 or 1 and go on to the next Google Places page and Spam it.  You have to agree, your review guidelines have to be beefed up.

Wasn't it Yelp that just recently got spanked with 3 out 4 reviews being proven to be false? Who can believe any review on Yelp now?

As your current review guideline stand .. reviews posted to Google Places are meaningless, valueless,  and can be maliciously harmful!

May I be so bold so as to recommend you review Trip Advisor review guidelines as when they are followed the review is honestly a travelers review.

When you stiffen up your review guidelines I will be glad to do a newsletter to our 4000 past students requesting they come and post a review until then your guidelines are to weak and allow for false reviews as demonstrated by both of the reviews where we were given a 2 and 3 rating by people never having been to Chef LeeZ Thai Cooking School Bangkok. Now I see that bored Thai's have started to leave us Spam reviews and we know they have not taken a class as we have had only 3 Thai nationals in class since 2011 and now we have 3 reviews from Thai's.

Hoping for a significant Google Places review guideline upgrade in the near future and before its too late we remain

yours truly,

CHef LeeZ Review # 322 "Great Day with Chef LeeZ ..

5 of 5 starsReviewed March 31, 2014NEW
I went with 2 friends to the cooking school and had an amazing experience. We went for the full day and attended a local market with the chef to begin with. It was a slightly more authentic market than I was used to with only a few stalls selling produce. The chef spoke very good English and explained how to find the best products whether it was dried shrimp of garlic.

We cooked six dishes after returning from the market. The room you cook in is air conditioned and well equipped. Everything was ready and waiting for us upon our return. The food really is amazing and you can taste the difference between the food you cook here and the food in many restaurants. Everything is so fresh.

The day is really fun and the chef is really knowledgeable with any questions you might want to ask.

The only thing I would say is that they are so organised and helpful that it is almost too easy. All of the quantities you need are already prepared for you, but you do get given a recipe booklet with everything you need to know. I have already replicated the Som Tam (Papaya Salad) at home and it is delicious.

Thanks for an awesome day.

We chose Chef Lee Z due to it's ratings on Trip Advisor and we we not disappointed. Chef Lee really knows her craft, she is an expert with Thai cuisine. She and her staff were welcoming and friendly and made us so relaxed it was like cooking with family. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend it. And the bonus is you get to eat everything you cook so bring an appetite with you.

Chef Leez organised a class for myself, my wife and best mate during the New Year celebrations. I was nervous about the class but needn't have been as chef made us feel welcome and got us striaght to work! We created a full menu of delicious dishes and her sense of humour really helped the day go by easily. I really enjoyed learning how to make Massaman curry and its become something of a speciality since I got home. In addition, chef took us to the fresh food market and this was a real eye opener for the sheer range of food types from , livestock to eel via thousand year eggs. We really enjoyed this class and will definately be back next time we are in Bangkok. Absolute class!

We did two cooking schools, one in Singapore and this one in Bangkok. I have to say that Chef Leez was better!
I was impressed with the amount of dishes I prepared (and ate) and the whole thing was well thought out. We did three soups, two curries, salad, and a dessert. Then after we were full (but not uncomfortably so) took a nice walk to the local market. It was a simple neighborhood open air market behind some alley would never have walked down on our own. I liked that she showed us how she picked the right dried shrimps and which vegetables and not the old dark dried chilies etc. I liked that I finally had someone to ask about the market cats and stray(?) dogs (while none particular owns them, people will be nice and provide water and scraps so they keep away rats and lizards). I just visited a local Thai market in Oakland and will try things in my own kitchen.
Would definitely recommended! It’s nice to get out of the heat and sun, so many our activities were outdoors a break was nice.

Our second time attending Chef Leez cooking class. My daughters (fifteen and twelve) and myself thoroughly enjoy our day spent there. Right out of the gates the trip to the local'smarket is so interesting.Chef Leez easy going and witty personality makes this day go by so quickly. She always pleases everyone's special requests for certain dishes and truly enjoys teaching and seeing people recreate her recipes. It is such an interactive and great experience to share with your children.

Chef LeeZ started us off with going to the market and selecting fresh ingredients. With her professional instruction and demonstration we were eager to begin our hands on learning experience. There are no short cuts with the Chef. Each item is carefully selected and combined to meet or exceed the cooking and tasting experience. The five cooking participants were able to sequence the timing of adding each tasty ingredients with precise cooking temperatures. Chef LeeZ explained in detail and carefully demonstrated techniques to prepare sauces and combine elements of ThaI cooking. We were delighted at our results. The meals were excellent. The facility was very functional and her assistant was very efficient in helping to prepare our individual items to cook. We will definitely be better equipped to cook Thai food in our home country thanks to Chef LeeZ. A must attend class if you are in Bangkok. Happy cooking from Bernard and Marie the content Canadians.

Chef LeeZ Review # 314 " Great Value for Great Knowledge"

Great value for great knowledge. ”  Review #314. Over 300 reviews in under 3 Years!

5 of 5 starsReviewed March 17, 2014 NEW
We did a day course, and were lucky enough to be the only two students.
One of us is a vegetarian and the other loves super spicy food.
Chef Leez had no problem in accommodating these and showed us both how to alter each recipe to suit our needs.
Her English was great and the team were happy and helpful.
The food tasted AMAZING.
The structure is simple and straightforward: we started with a visit to the local market, guided by chef leez. She introduced us to her philosophies on food, and showed is how to prudently acquire good clean and chemical free food from a busy Bangkok market. Worth it just for this experience. Here we (rather chef) got extra ingredients needed for our special requests (vegetarian & super spicy).
The lesson: for each dish we started with the base ingredient and prep, making coconut cream and milk, tamarind paste, and a chilli paste for the soups, curry paste for the curries. From these basics of Thai food we learnt kinetically how to mix and combine them into pretty much all Thai foods. We made and sampled three soups, four curries, two noodle dishes a salad and desert. Even though the basics were so similar we were surprised at how different the final products were.
DO NOT EAT BREAKFAST, you'll be nearly full after the soups, with many more dishes to come, and they are that good that you will want to finish every drop.
We left with the knowledge of how to expand and adapt these basics into many more. Five stars.
The cost of 1500 Thai baht is very reasonable. Considering in other (more touristy) places like Koh Samui you can expect to pay between 1500-2000 baht and learn only two dishes, and they're not this good.
Getting there: was easier than expected, LTS provided us with very simple and direct instructions in both English and Thai. We managed to get a tuk tuk to the door from our hotel in Chinatown for 100 baht, which we and the driver were happy with.
The lesson took four hours and we needed a nap afterward as we were so full. Highly recommended to both advanced and novice cooks.

I took 2 days of cooking classes in late February and really learned a tremendous amount about Thai cooking. Chef Lee was very personable and made the day go by all too quickly with small anecdotes on her growing up. I though the visit to the local market was a great way to start the day and I learned a lot about how to pick out the best and freshest items. The only thing that could have been better for me is if the written recipes matched what we did in class a little better. While they were helpful, they could have been more accurate and saved some furious note taking. But all in all, very well worth the time and money to go here!

We visited during some of the problems in Bangkok (which had no impact on us at all) so we (two couples - one in our late forties and one in their early twenties) had Chef LeeZ to ourselves for a morning cooking class. She has a very fun and witty personality and we were able to customize some requests including making vegetarian spring rolls and sticky rice with mango. Learning about the ingredients and the simplicity yet incredible flavour and aroma of some Thai standards (different soups and curries) made for a fascinating morning. Chef LeeZ also did a wonderful job of accommodating the one vegetarian in our group, so many of the dishes were done with meat or fish and again for the vegetarian version. Definitely a highlight of our trip. Chef Leez made it fun and it was a surprise to see that four hours were already over!

Cooking with Chef Lee was and absolutely wonderful experience. She is a genuinely friendly woman with a passion for teaching and developing the people around her. Her experience in cooking techniques and her ability to demonstrate and showcase them was exceptional; being both very precise but also cooking with flair.
I recommend Chef LeeZ cooking class to anyone who is travelling through Bangkok, Thailand looking for the most admirable cooking experiences with Thai food there is to offer.

Had great fun here learning to cook Thai food, the traditional way, completely from scratch. The entire experience was great the whole way through - from visiting the markets, to learning and tasting the differences in shop bought components to the actual stuff, to the results what cooked!
Chef is extremely passionate about teaching you how to make tasty food and the ability get the recipes online with videos well as in paper form just makes more comfortable that I'll able reproduce at home.
Great experience, thoroughly enjoyable day.

This cooking class has everything ! Chef Leez is funny, charming and a very good teacher. She takes time to explain and if you have special requests.......she will put it in the programm. After some experience already in Thai cooking I really wanted to learn to cook my noodles better and learn how to make a very good sweet and sour sauce and the Kanom Thuey ( a dessert). I learned everything !!
Don't eat much before the class.........everything you cook ........you eat it. I recommend Chef Leez for everybody who wants to learn Thai cooking.

Chef LeeZ Student Review #306 " A Chef's Dream" .. Still making review records!

5 of 5 starsReviewed February 23, 2014 NEW
The class was a much anticipated element of our Bangkok visit and my foodie husband enrolled well in advance. Since he does ALL the cooking I planned to go along to take pictures. We were told on arrival that only enrolled students could attend, so I was signed up, a little trepidatious about what would be required of me. In the end I had a fantastic time, as Chef Lee herself absorbed my part in a kindly subtle way. So if this sounds familiar to anyone reading this, fear not and do not miss the class. First of all, if for any reason this renown chef should choose to stop teaching her very delicious Thai cuisine, I am certain that she would have great success as a stand-up comedian. Laughter was certainly a spice of the day. We joined an international group of three other couples and set off on a field trip to the nearby market, making a brief stop to wonder at the monitor lizards sunning in the canal along the way. Without our guide we would never have guessed what emerged when we entered a narrow alley. A warren of stalls, each specializing in a product Chef Lee narrated (e.g., how the Taiwanese invented the coconut shredder for the essential Thai ingredient, what ingredient was a good or bad choice, how the cats came to enjoy preferential treatment after a flood that miraculously spared the market they frequented, and many instances of products that would never be sanctioned in a Western culture but are essential to the preparation of authentic Thai cuisine and more). The butcher’s stall was remarkable with production ongoing. Back to the school where an incredibly delicious meal was demonstrated, produced and enjoyed, in part due to the choreography of the staff who enhanced the convivial experience. Our menu of the day included the following: chili paste (hot) on toast, both clear an creamy chicken soup, pad Thai with shrimp, green and massaman curry (a name that evolved from the original Muslim adjective), papaya in a spicy vinegar preparation, polished off with mango and sticky rice. We had a phenomenal meal and a truly memorable day. For a final observation, I was curious about the roll of toilet paper at each station before we began to eat, but it was soon obvious it was there to capture the Thai food tears we all happily shed in the process.
